To standardize collection of co-payment and/or deposits from patients upon receiving hospital and clinic services and ensure all required pre-authorizations and Medicaid Primary Care Physician referrals are obtained prior to providing those services requiring a pre-authorization or PCP referral.
The facility expects payment in full of all hospital or clinic patient accounts at the time services are rendered, upon completion of services in the Emergency Department, or upon patient's receipt of the initial billing summary.
The policy of DeSoto Regional Health System is to ask for payment of co-payment, deposits at the time services are rendered or upon the patient's discharge. As a courtesy to the patient, the facility will bill the patient's insurance and allow a reasonable amount of time for the insurance company to remit payment. Should the insurance payment not be received, the patient will be billed for the total charges and payment is expected from the responsible party upon receipt of the bill.
If the required pre-authorization is not obtained prior to the patient presenting for services, the services will be rescheduled until the pre-authorization is obtained or the patient accepts responsibility for payment and pays a predetermined deposit for the service.
If the required Medicaid Primary Care Physician referral is not obtained prior to the patient presenting for hospital outpatient services or clinic services, the services will be postponed until the required referral is obtained.
